Social Service


This service is sent to all the registered people of Huarte. The Social Service provides personal and direct help and assistance to groups and communities or individually, to facilitate the integration of all the people in the society.
The final goal is to promote the full and free development of the person into the society so that he or she can obtain a better social wellness and quality of life. It also tries to prevent and eliminate social exclusion.

MAIN ACTION AREAS:

Childhood, Adolescence and Youth, Family, Senior Citizens, Disabled People, Social Exclusion and Community Intervention. The programs included in this service are:

WELCOME AND SOCIAL ORIENTATION PROGRAM

Attended by professional Social Workers, it is sent to all the people who have special needs such as economical, familiar, social, home and other kinds of assistance.

COMMUNITY ATTENTION PROGRAM

It tries to facilitate the participation and relation between political representatives, technical workers and inhabitants of Huarte.
It supports the associations of the village so that they can carry on with their activities, and it gets the proposals for activities related to different areas.

PROMOTION OF PERSONAL AUTONOMY AND ATTENTION FOR PEOPLE IN A SITUATION OF DEPENCY

The objectives of this program is promote personal autonomy, prevent dependency situations and attend the needs of people with self- reliance difficulties, attention for people in a situation of depency and enable access to alternative resources if they need.

CHILDHOOD AND FAMILY PROGRAMS

Programs attended by professional Social Educators. It tries to advice, orientate and help the families through educative situation where you may find difficulties. It is also responsible for the organisation and/or support of the implementation of different activities directed at children and young people in the town.
Urban Camps: These are jointly organised with the Basque and Cultural Areas of the Huarte Town Council, directed at promoting the reconciliation of work and family life for the inhabitants of Huarte. These camps are organised during the holiday periods of Carnival Week, Easter and Summer, from 8
a.m. to 2 p.m with the possibility of having the use of the dining room from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., whereby lunch is brought in by the families and the Town Council makes an area available for eating.
Workshop for mothers and fathers: Directed at mothers and fathers with sons and daughters aged 0 to 18 years. At this workshop, participants can share opinions as to what being a mother or father actually
means, look into the development of our sons and daughters, learn about and identify our feelings and those of our children, etc.
Social skills group: Directed at boys and girls aged 8 to 12 years. Through experience with different artistic, plastic, narrative activities, etc. the children will learn to set limits, to care and to look after themselves and others, to freely and spontaneously express their feelings, to find different ways of interacting with others and of feeling supported and accompanied.
“Babyteque” or “Bebeteca”: Special area for children between 0 and 5. Self-managed by parents (children must be accompanied by an adult)

PROGRAM FOR SOCIAL INCORPORATION AND PROTECTED SOCIAL EMPLOYMENT PROJECT

A program attended by professional Social Workers which will help you if you have difficulties looking for a job, and will support you so that you can get adapted and integrated into the society. It helps, orientates and trains along the active search of employment.

PROGRAM FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

Program attended by professional Social Workers sent to people over 65. It offers the following services:
1 -“Retireteque” or “Jubiloteca”: Two different workshops are carried, trying to prevent the physical and psychic deterioration of those of you that join the workshops.
Furthermore, recreational, educative and cognitive activities are carried.

2 – Chiropody: A service sent to people over 65 registered in Huarte. It is carried in Plazaldea.
An appointment must be agreed to get access to the service, by calling 948 012012 The users
pay a fee according to their incomes.
